This year turned out to be a disappointing year tax refund wise. We didn’t get anywhere near the nearly $9,000 we received last year because our deductions changed (property taxes reduced, tuition payments reduced, student loan interest reduced, etc.). We’ll add a couple hundred to our savings but it’s no $9,000. At least we don’t have to pay!
We considered changing our deductions since we’ll have a child to claim and childcare write-offs but we decided to wait another year and see where next year drops us. We don’t want to put ourselves in a position that forces us to pay. I don’t need that kind of stress!
Whew! Another tax year over!

Great point about seeing what next year brings. We still have to do our taxes yet, but I can’t wait until they are done! Like the site. Keep up the great posts!
It’s a good feeling to have it done. This year we will have a larger refund but that will change if some of the changes in the state tax law go into affect as proposed. Still, I guess any refund is better than no refund, right? 🙂
Yeah, it’s a nice feeling when it’s over for another year. Take heart, though. When your bump gets bigger and is welcomed into the world, your little bundle of joy will make a big difference when tax time comes next year. Take it from me…I have 5 of them! Just a little benefit to parenthood, among many other joys. Blessings….
I’m so jealous you have your taxes done.
