Attaching it to the pole was ridiculous, but if you think about it, you can’t ride the bike away with the lock on. Yes, it could be whisked away and the lock cut off later, I suppose, but it’s a start 🙂
Let’s hope the owner outperforms his or her common sense on homework assignments.
@Money Beagle: All cable bicycle locks can be cut with bolt cutters in about 5 seconds. The only real security is getting a U-lock or chain (and using it properly).
I saw a bike at the BART station I passed through daily that had a cable lock around the handle bars. It was still there in the evening, which made me feel better about people in general.
I remember once seeing a bike wheel chained to a bike rack. I was a bit puzzled at first….
