After my post last night I fell fast asleep. At 5 am I woke up thinking I had fallen asleep in a sauna. I checked the thermostat and as I did I noticed the note under the door. The air conditioner apparently was experiencing electrical problems and they were doing all they could to fix it but…it was 87 degrees in the room I was trying to sleep in. As I desperately tried to fall back asleep I started on a negative road of thinking about how much I hate the heat in the summer. No value in doing that so I enjoyed a very cool shower and got into the air conditioned car by 7 am.
My pack up and move out was made slightly more challenging by having my own food from the grocery store! I was cursing that idea as I had to make two trips from my room to the parking garage in 87 degrees…in the building AND out. But there’s a happy ending! I ended up moving to another Marriott property–a Residence Inn–so now I have a kitchen with a real live fridge. Duh! This is where I should have stayed to begin with!
Since my day started with saving my food from the sweltering heat…I became (perhaps insanely) more dedicated to the real food I had purchased. I managed to have my real food lunch in spite of the office I was visiting offering goodies for a working lunch. I don’t know that I would have been so dedicated had I not had that crazy start to my day!
Last funny note–I checked the online local news for San Antonio today looking for a story I had heard something about and guess what I found? “Maker of ‘Ramen Noodles’ To Open Facility in Bexar County.” That’s right! Ramen is coming to San Antonio! What are the odds? I’m still cracking up! Here’s the link just for kicks: http://www.woai.com/news/local/story/Maker-of-Ramen-Noodles-to-open-facility-in-Bexar/LEpJvQp9yEehxbg-1GbmfA.cspx The article says hiring will begin in December 2013 and they hope to open in April 2014. Funny thing–I hope to be debt free (but for the cars) around that same timeframe!
So I end this day thankful for air conditioning and for what will be a constant reminder of my Ramen blunder at the beginning of my debt payoff blog!
Born and raised in Texas. I’ve at least driven through every state in the US courtesy of a roadtrip loving Dad.
I’m single with two children and a good parenting relationship with their father.
I am a “life is just half full of funny” kinda gal. Humor is my saving grace and I am thankful for it every single day. I have a strong Catholic faith and am thankful for that foundation.
I read a lot for a living but still enjoy a good book. I love biographies but in recent years have found the need for fun fictional books–sadly, for a long time I just didn’t enjoy fiction!
I love live theatre of any kind–from local productions to Broadway.
I love to scrapbook and pride myself in my kids’ albums.
I love being a mom but also love my career. I’m blessed to have found a balance allowing me to be at everything my kids need and want me to be at–while also having a career.

Remind me about the Ramen Rage again?
Also, I really enjoy your blog. It’s become a daily read for me. Good luck.
Heather-
I hope you can get to the Ramen Rage post via the link below. Be sure to read the comments! I had no idea people felt so strongly about ramen noodles. Now all of the ramen references in my life are really making this feel very Seinfeldian!

Ugh!! I hate trying to sleep when it’s hot! Which reminds me – it’s getting close to that time of year when the boyfriend needs to install the window AC unit in his bedroom. I should remind him to do that… soon. (My place has wonderful central air.)
As for the Residence Inns, I love them!! When I was a consultant I stayed in one while on an extended assignment. It was wonderful to be able to make my own pasta, have a normal breakfast, etc. The experience sold me on extended stay hotels, so when I was reassigned to another area I stayed in an Extended Stay America. And I’ve stayed in extended stay hotels while on vacation, too. They cost a little more, but you save in food. And it’s just nice having a bigger space.
