I had a slip this weekend….well, more than just a slip…several slips. It was, once again, the result of poor planning! I was so enjoying this weekend doing pretty much nothing but hanging with the kids and I just did not want to plan! Well, I literally paid the price. How do those swipes happen so easily and add up to such a high number so fast? Frustrating.
I’m going to give myself a break and accept that I spent $150 on total needless crap that I can’t even readily identify. I guess if that is my only slip during the very tumultuous time….I’m doing okay.
26 day until my divorce can be final!!!! I think getting back to my regular blogging style is in the top 5 things I am looking forward to with this chapter closing!
Born and raised in Texas. I’ve at least driven through every state in the US courtesy of a roadtrip loving Dad.
I’m single with two children and a good parenting relationship with their father.
I am a “life is just half full of funny” kinda gal. Humor is my saving grace and I am thankful for it every single day. I have a strong Catholic faith and am thankful for that foundation.
I read a lot for a living but still enjoy a good book. I love biographies but in recent years have found the need for fun fictional books–sadly, for a long time I just didn’t enjoy fiction!
I love live theatre of any kind–from local productions to Broadway.
I love to scrapbook and pride myself in my kids’ albums.
I love being a mom but also love my career. I’m blessed to have found a balance allowing me to be at everything my kids need and want me to be at–while also having a career.

Don’t worry you are doing fine
about three weeks ago I promised myself no more than 3 swipes of the card….BS…doesn’t work…took it out of my wallet…I am attempting to not swipe for the week. I have vowed that I will use cash, and if i don’t have it we don’t get it. I usually just use my check card for groceries and necessities…this weeked that came to almost three hundred dollars…my grocery and gas budget is $150 a week….No CASH—NO GET. I hope it works!!!
I hear ya! I posted some worksheets for tracking expenses that I just downloaded. I also downloaded an ap for my phone. I am going to really track every cent. $150.00 is a lot of money! Good luck!
sometimes you need that slip- I believe 🙂 you are human and not a machine, you are just doing fine. Small baby steps- and they will add up.
Good luck

You are coping with a stressful situation so, small slips may happen. I am sure you will be fine.
If you can return any item, you may want to do that. It might help you feel better.
We all make mistakes. Just learn from it and move on. That’s the key, IMO, learning from mistakes. Lord knows I’ve had my share…
getting out of debt and managing money is very much like dieting.
you’ll have that bad meal or extra piece of cake on the weekend, just like spending that extra swipe or two on the debit card. then of course you feel guilty and wish you could take it back, lol.
just so long as you don’t continue the madness it’s okay!
Seriously. Debit cards are my death. I think I might need to start only using cash, because I can actually see what I am spending, instead of looking at a piece of plastic because I spend money way faster with my card than with cash. It is crazy.
I read somewhere that folks spend something like 8% more money when they are using some kind of card ‘credit/debit’ as opposed to paying cash.
No new posts? Hope, all is well…
Could you possible return any of the items? When I slip up, sometimes just grabbing receipts and taking items back helps minimize the damage. You’re doing great!
