Send a prayer up for Sea Cadet today please. He will be getting his wisdom teeth out, and he is VERY nervous. I’ve walked him through it from my own personal experience, the oral surgeon answered all his questions last week at the consultation and now it’s time.
I’m very grateful that his insurance covers this 100% and I’ve used that aspect to encourage him to get it done now before he is on his own. Not to mention it will really help with the braces we are re-doing at the end of the month.

Sending healing vibes to Sea Cadet! I don’t like dentist appointments either but I prefer a tooth extraction over a filling and a filling over a root canal 🙂
Tell him as a reward he can eat lots of ice cream and pudding 😉 That’s what I do whenever I have a major tooth event like an extraction.
I hope everything goes smoothly.
Oh, I forgot to add – 100% coverage is a BIG DEAL!!! I’ve got a pretty good dental plan through my employer and I would still have to pay 30-50% of that cost.
Yes, I am very grateful to not have the medical/dental/prescription worries with the twins. (Part of the adoption benefits.)
My son had this done 2 years ago and I was very nervous about it. He came flying through it with no problems. My only suggestion would be to bring those instant cold packs and get them on his jaw ASAP (we did it as he was coming out of anesthesia) – it helps keep down the swelling. He had almost no swelling, and after a couple days of soft foods, he was fine. Good luck!
Both my kids had this done and it was no big deal for either one. One actually wanted to go to a movie that night but we told him he needed to stay home at least 24 hours.
Did everything go okay?
So far so good. We stuck to the every 4 hour pain pill schedule yesterday and will see how he does today. Hopefully moving from the prescription pain pills to OTC stuff. I hope. Thanks for asking!
I hope Sea Cadet gets better fast! Sending healing and great energy to him! Having braces is a long, long process.
Hope Sea Cadet feels better soon!
