The Ways I Make Money with my Blog

by

You can see by looking around that I have advertising on my blog.  While the income from them will probably not ever replace my current income, any extra money helps when it comes to paying off debt.

A reader was curious how I am making money, so I thought I would write a brief post about it.  Here is what I use and/or know are legitimate companies.

1.)  Google Adsense – by far, google is probably the form of advertising you see on many blogs.  It serves ads on a site depending on the content and you are paid every time a user clicks on an ad.

2.) Text Link Ads (<- referral link) - companies pay a set amount per month to advertise with their link on your blog. (Edited to add: Not compatible with blogger.com blogs) 3.)  Linkworth – same type of advertising as Text Link Ads.

4.) Linkshare.com – this company has MANY advertisers to choose from. You post ads on your site and then make money when your readers click through the ads and purchase something. Some companies you can advertise with are Fashion Bug, American Express, Netflix and Apple.com.

5.) Commission Junction (CJ) – similar to LinkShare but different advertisers. One of the big ones I can think of off-hand is CitiBank.

6.) Amazon Associates – the popular online store, Amazon.com has a program where you can earn money when others click through your links and make a purchase.

7.) Blogitive – for this site, you are given a link and a web release for a company to write about in your blog. You get $5.00 for each one that you do and it’s pretty easy. I do not use it for Blogging Away Debt, but I do have a few blogs that I use it on (and it is the only source of income for those blogs except for one text link that I sold). UPDATE: I removed the link because a payment to me is now overdue by over a week.

There are many other ways to make money with a website and/or blogging, but these are the few that I am using. I haven’t made anything or enough with a few of them to receive a check (LinkShare, CJ and Amazon Associates) but they are all well respected so that is why I joined them.

This Week’s Carnival of Debt Reduction…

by

…is up at Journey to Financial Freedom.

I’m hosting the next Carnival of Debt Reduction, so if you are a blogger make sure you submit a debt-related article to me via the Blog Carnival form. Please keep the entries only about debt or they may not be included in the carnival. I was a little lenient last time I hosted, but the idea I have for this one will not allow it.

I’m also looking for debt stories to accompany the carnival, so if you have one to share please check out my post here.

Your story can be just a general rant about debt, or a poem or anything you’d like to share. If you just want to proclaim your debt, but are not quite ready to do it non-anonymously…here’s your chance! The only one who will see who these are from is me, unless you tell me to put your name and/or link to your blog (if you have one).

If you have questions, please leave a comment or email me 🙂
